About the same time, the cylinder on the backhoe began bleeding off at such a rate that it often takes two of us to operate the equipment to prevent the dipper from dragging when it becomes necessary to move the tractor to continue digging. After several days of waiting, we were advised that they could not get one but that we could “feel free to try and find one elsewhere”. This remains unfixed and continues to be a problem.
Recently Jeff found a crack in the dipper for the backhoe. We called George Conrad at Specialty Tractors and emailed photos. He advised that this tractor had no other backhoe options and never returned our request for warranty coverage. We had to pay to have it repaired.
@20/30 hours of operation the tractor got stuck in 1st gear and the hydraulic hoses were leaking. We found that the transmission was a known issue in India, but this was the first in North America and that it would take some time to get the part in but were assured that this would correct the problem.
Last week, the tractor again stuck in 1st gear, further delaying construction of our home. We are currently living in our camper and are now at risk of being stuck in the camper throughout the harsh winter. My 55 year old husband with health issues is out in 90 degree temperatures attempting to complete tasks by hand while our $30,000.00 tractor sits useless. This has caused us immeasurable stress, frustration, time and money.
@30/50 hours of operation, the joy stick that operates the boom cylinder on the backhoe broke and fell forward, allowing the backhoe to slam forward, ruining the seals in the boom cylinder on the backhoe.
When we attempted to perform an oil change, the first of several errors in the Mahindra manual was discovered. Unable to locate the oil specified in the manual we contacted the mechanic at Specialty Tractors. He advised that the lubrication capacities and types of oil to use in the tractor are incorrect in the manuals and that we should consult him because he had seen similar issues in the past. Had we been successful in locating the oil that the manual indicated, major damage could have resulted.
SPECIALTY SHOULD STICK TO CAMPERS BECAUSE THEY SUCK AT TRACTORS
@80/100 hours of operation, the subframe on the backhoe broke in 2 places, nearly crushing my husband. We were growing increasingly concerned about the integrity of the equipment we purchased and began to suggest that a refund of our purchase price or a new tractor should be considered. As a result, Specialty Tractors had the area rep to come in and evaluate the tractor. We were advised that the equipment had been abused and neglected. They alleged a failure of proper maintenance and working the tractor beyond its capabilities. Bob Fout was well aware of the work this tractor/backhoe would be performing and assured us that this tractor would easily complete the work we described. We have used it for nothing beyond the scope of what was described. Further, my husband has operated and worked on tractors since he was 14 and became a certified mechanic through PPG Industries in the 1980s. All maintenance had been performed according to the manual. The mechanic at Specialty Tractors stated that greasing and bolt torquing needed to be done twice as much as the manual states. Despite all of this, Specialty Tractors refused to cover these repairs under warranty and billed us over $700. We were denied access to complete records with regards to this and all other issues.
I've bought a camper and looking to buy a tractor from Specialty. Always professional, friendly and helpful. Truly a great place to do business.
Stopped into the Rockbridge Location for a Toyhauler. Spoke with Scott and went through 2 different trailers to see the quality of Forrestwind. They are for sure nicer trailers than what 2 other places had carried. Went around to 3 different places. Came back the next day for measurements and the third day brought the Side by Side with us there to make sure it could fit with some modifying of cabinets! 2 small rolls of carpet down on the ramp down(to keep clean) and BOOM it fits as PLANNED! Point being they worked with use to make sure we we're getting what we needed. Went in and Talked with a man named "Grizz" which was a cool dude and fair. Came to an agreement on price which I am very pleased with because I wanted to give these fellas my business! 5 days later I went to get my weight distribution installed and to pick the trailer up. Darrell, Justin and Dustin I believe we're there names were very helpful and knowledgeable. A few minor problems and readjustments needed but it was all handled the way it should have been handled and quickly! The people here made my buying experience very nice and non stressed.
Bob Fout told us that Mahindra tractors are comparable to much larger horsepower tractors of other manufacturers. He assured us that the 4540 would be the “workhorse” that we needed. On 03/08/2017 we paid approximately $30,000.00 cash for the Mahindra 4540 with a front-end loader and backhoe for what we believed to be the best of the best in tractors.
Bought a camper from Specialty RV, the service department was amazing!! Every single person who helped us was wonderful! They took the time to go over everything with us, answer questions even though it was a holiday weekend and were very busy. Would be happy to do business with them again.
@3 hours of operation, the teeth on the backhoe started breaking. We were advised that the teeth would be $48/ea and that they did not stock them.
We had no problems with the sales aspect of specialty RV except the Forest River brand they carry. Stay away from this brand. They have terrible customer service!! We took our RV into Specialty for extended warranty work on our 2014 Sierra by Forest River. One of the slide outs quit working. OK, this is pretty bad in itself for such a new RV. We took it in for service at specialty RV and after two month we are still going around and around about a simple part number. No one can seem to come up with a part number. Really?!?!? Forest River is absolutely no help at all. Everyone is playing the blame game. We are so dissatisfied that words cannot express. We are going into prime camping weather and we have No ideas when we will have our RV back. UNACCEPTABLE !!!
Tractor too strong for the Backhoe and other ongoing issues...
